World-Class Manufacturing Excellence

Manufacturing Process

Ingenuity, high-grade materials, and precision engineering designed to guarantee long-term operational performance for international power utilities and industrial procurement.

ENGINEERED FOR EXCELLENCE IN A 100,000 SQ FT PLANT

EUROGULF Transformers operates one of the Middle East’s most advanced transformer manufacturing facilities in Hamriyah Free Zone, Sharjah, UAE. Utilizing high-grade raw materials sourced from globally certified suppliers, our 7-stage manufacturing process complies strictly with IEC 60076, IEEE C57, BS, and NEMA international standards to meet the most demanding utility and industrial grid specifications.

Precision Winding

High and Low Voltage windings are executed using fully automated CNC winding machinery. Low-voltage windings utilize high-conductivity electrolytic copper or aluminum foil to neutralize axial short-circuit forces. High-voltage windings employ Paper-Insulated Copper Conductors (PICC), bunched wires, or Continuously Transposed Cables (CTC) with epoxy diamond-dotted insulation paper (DDP) for thermal bonding.

CRGO Core Assembly

Magnetic cores are fabricated from top-grade Cold Rolled Grain Oriented (CRGO) silicon steel laminations (0.23mm–0.35mm thickness), including domain-refined Hi-B steel for low-loss designs. Precision-cut laminations are stacked in a 90° step-lap mitered pattern to dramatically reduce no-load losses, excitation current, and acoustic noise emissions.

Core-Coil Assembly (Active Part)

Phase coils are mounted over core limbs using high-density pressboard insulation barriers, stress rings, and angular caps. Complete active assemblies are clamped mechanically to withstand high electrodynamic short-circuit stresses. Ratio, vector group, and magnetic balance tests are performed prior to drying.

Computerized Vacuum Drying

To ensure high insulation breakdown strength, core-coil assemblies undergo an automated drying process in a PLC-controlled vacuum drying oven capable of handling up to 132kV class active parts. This process extracts moisture from pressboards, cellulose insulation paper, and structural wood components down to optimal PPM levels.

Tank Fabrication & Leak Testing

Transformer tanks are manufactured from low-carbon structural steel with corrugated cooling fins or detachable panel radiators. Welds are subjected to 100% non-destructive ultraviolet dye-penetrant and pressure leak tests to ensure total structural integrity and zero oil leakage over an extended service lifecycle.

Shot Blasting & Surface Protection

All tank surfaces are grit/shot blasted to SA 2.5 quality standards to eradicate mill scale, rust, and surface contaminants. Immediate application of zinc-rich anti-corrosion primer is followed by intermediate epoxy coats and UV-resistant poly-urethane topcoats engineered for harsh desert and coastal environments (C4/C5 marine environments).

Final Tanking & Vacuum Oil Filling

Dried active parts are placed inside prepared tanks, sealed with high-grade NBR gaskets, and vacuum-filled with processed, degassed mineral oil (IEC 60296 compliant) or synthetic ester fluids (MIDEL). Complete assemblies undergo final routine testing in our accredited high-voltage laboratory before dispatch.

KEY CONSTRUCTIONAL FEATURES

Magnetic Core Technology

Built from high-permeability CRGO steel laminations, precision-cut to tight tolerances. Step-lap mitered joints optimize magnetic flux distribution, minimize no-load losses, and ensure quiet operation compliant with strict utility noise regulations.

Optimized Windings Design

Layer, helical, disc, or interleaved disc winding layouts selected to optimize dynamic thermal capacity and impulse withstand levels. Foil winding techniques on LV coils reduce axial short-circuit forces to near-zero levels.

Robust Tank Construction

Hermetically sealed corrugated tanks or rigid conservator designs with external radiator banks. Built from structural grade steel engineered to endure seismic forces, transport stresses, and internal pressure expansion.

Dielectric Fluids & Insulation

High-dielectric mineral insulating oils according to IEC 60296, or eco-friendly synthetic ester fluids (MIDEL) for high-fire-safety urban and offshore applications. All oils are treated with high-vacuum filtration prior to impregnation.

Type Tested & Globally Certified Quality

EUROGULF transformers undergo rigorous routine, type, and special testing in accordance with IEC and IEEE standards. Our design ratings are independently certified by renowned international laboratories including KEMA (Netherlands) and CESI (Italy).
